Gamer Drop with Walmart
OBJECTIVE
Walmart’s Gamer Drop campaign aims to promote video game, tech and toy brands right before the holiday season. This nationwide event promotes the latest games and gear both online and within Walmart stores. For it’s third year, our creative team was tasked with taking the existing event branding and creating something fresh and new, but still familiar to event goers. Alongside a fresh approach, the team was also tasked with creating a brand page experience on Walmart.com that promoted the in-store event while encouraging customers to also shop online.
APPROACH
The previous year’s campaign performed well, so it was a big challenge for our creative team to level up the design. Knowing that customers in the previous year resonated with animations on the page, we leaned into a subtle and slick animation, staying away from the traditional retro feeling pixel movement and implementing a more modern movement. Hierarchy was also important for our advertisers, so we created a special interactive hero moment for our largest advertisers that felt sleek and interactive. Overall, 2023’s campaign was wildly successful and set the standard for how our creative teams implement video and interactive capabilities on our website.
